About Rakesh

Rakesh qualified in Medicine at Leeds University. He trained in paediatric medicine in London, Oxford and Cambridge and now specializes in endocrinology and diabetes. He was awarded an MD for research on the subject of diabetes microvascular disease.

Rakesh was appointed as a paediatric consultant and senior lecturer at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Child Health, London in 2012.

Specialities

Dr Amin specialises in all forms of diabetes in children and young people, as well as endocrine problems such as growth, puberty, thyroid disease, bone disease, adrenal problems, and obesity.

NHS and Academic posts

Rakesh is clinical lead for diabetes and endocrinology at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Rakesh has spoken at many international meetings, and received numerous awards.

He has on-going research projects and these include establishing biobanks of people with diabetes and being an investigator in a number of research trials.

Additional information

Dr Amin speaks both English and Gujarati.

As a paediatrician, he treats people aged between 0-25 years of age only.
